Truth

Should we censor the truth? Make every child blind and believe the ideas of other people? Not to let children see with their own eyes, and make their own perspective? Where would our variety of opinionated views come from? Would you want the future generations to have the same opinions? Do you want us to be brain washed?

Hope

This is a photo of the film Cinderella Man, it makes me feel a sense of hope in hard times, as you see in the film his oldest son is afraid of being sent away to extend family. Cause their parents can' t take care of them. But this is reassuring that everything will be fine. http://us.movies1.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/movie_pix/universal_pictures/cinderella_man/russell_crowe/cinderella2.jpg

The hopeless and inferior

I think the US should be involved in every sort of genocide, stopping it from happening or while its occurring, and staying till that nation has a resolution. If the US has the resources, and the opportunity to help another people, then we should be obliged to help. That also goes for every other nation, but of course in reality. Nothing will be done effectively enough to stop genocide from happening.

Fighting Hunger

In the 1930's the Great Depression began, the film Cinderella Man shows us the lifestyle and struggles through a boxers perspective of James J. Braddock and his family.

Steady income- James fighting his way up to become champ from 1926-1929 before the depression. http://www.jamesjbraddock.com/record/

Depression- Boxing is still a very popular sport during the depression, it was like going to the movies, affordable entertainment. But Braddock enters a fight while not adjusted to the changes of rations, performing unfavorably and causing a tie.

Proving his worthiness- The heads of the boxing commerce decied to not allow james to fight anymore, cause of the embarrassment he caused. But he talks his way back into new hope.

Rise from the ashes- James continues his fighting, giving the public a hope from the depression, as if he was fighting for the people.

Finale- Fights for the championship title, wins the match, and the end.

Just cause

The evidence shown in this trial clearly shows Sacco and Vanzetti were guilty.

Which would you like to learn?

Teaching evolution and religion are based off what you believe, so students should be given the option to learn about any religion/science they want. It is not fair to have only one certain study out of thousands of others. I think there shouldn't be any if you can't have all.

American Crime

What I learned from the presentations, is that America's first organized crime was caused by it's own government, prohibition. People were formed to get alcohol, cause the government said they could no longer manufacture or sale booze. Our natural reaction to this, is to enter the door that says 'Do Not Enter'. These gangsters were ruthless, collaborating with one another, then turning on each other. From bank robberies, too moving rum, this was the 1920's gangsters.

Concept Guide Roaring Twenties

The scopes trial- teaching evolution, instead of teaching religion in schools. We now learn evolution

Prohibition- a women's movement to ban alcohol

Flappers- women who were wild, showed skin and smoked/drink in public

Economic issues- demand, debt

Dust Bowl- dust storms, caused by over farming, fatal

Agriculture Issues- over farming, machines produce too fast

Immigration Policies- quota of immigrants allowed in the US each year

Nativism- trying to preserve native Americans from the United States of America

Significant Literary Works- Jungle, The Ways of The White Folk, Unsafe at Any Speed

The Great Migration- a movement of African Americans from the south to the north, because of job opportunities, thus creating the Harlem renaissance

Sacco and Vanzetti- Italian anarchists, example of red scare, sentenced to death

Labor Issues- no leadership, manipulation

Red Scare- the American fear of communism, results of Palmer Raids- arresting innocent foreigners of suspicion of communism

Schenk vs. USA- espionage act
